Woke up about 5am & had our breakfast in the hotel. Weather in the morning about 18-20degree. Cold morning but by noon it is about 25degree. Proceed to Ijen crater for about 30 min journey. On the way we saw a beautiful sunrise. We did not see the sunrise in Ijen Crater. We need to walked about 2km to reached the crater and another 1km to go down to the lake.We met a miner & he become our tour guide & we paid him IDR50,000  for the tips. On the way going down to the lake is very challenging coz full of rocks. We had a great time at the lake & the miner site. On the way up, we in hale the fumes. It is a very horrible experienced. Our eyes are so itchy & teary. Our throat get so irritated by the fumes. Our guide told us to pour some water on the mask and it will help. Breathtaking view along the way & we had a slow walked and we took about 5 hours for Ijen crater. Our clothes smells of sulfur! Then we went back to the hotel to freshen up. Continued our journey to Bromo for another 6 hours. Cold weather at night & had our dinner at one the shop in Bromo. Good food!

On the way to Ijen Crater with the sulfur laden basket. It is quite heavy!

The miner carrying the sulfur laden basket

An active vent at the edge of the lake is a source of elemental sulfur, and supports a mining operation. Escaping volcanic gasses are channeled through a network of ceramic pipes, resulting in condensation of molten sulfur.[3] The sulfur, which is deep red in color when molten, pours slowly from the ends of these pipes and pools on the ground, turning bright yellow as it cools. The miners break the cooled material into large pieces and carry it away in baskets. Miners must carry loads, which range from 75 kilograms (170 lb) to 90 kilograms (200 lb), up 300 metres (980 ft) to the crater rim, with a gradient of 45 to 60 degrees and then 3 kilometers (1.86 miles) down the mountain for weighing.

Ijen volcano, which has a one kilometer wide turquoise-coloured acid crater lake. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried by hand from the crater floor. The work is low-paid and very onerous. Workers earn around $5.50-$8.30 (Rp 50,000 - Rp 75,000) per day and once out of the crater, still need to carry their loads of sulfur chunks about three kilometers to the nearby Pultuding valley to get paid.

On the way up & we in hale the fumes. It is a very horrible experienced. Our eyes are so itchy & teary. Our throat get so irritated by the fumes. Our guide told us to pour some water on the mask and it will help.

We took the the horse and need to climb the sandy staircase to the crater. Mr Sun is out & weather is better. Back to Bromo Permai hotel for our morning breakfast and check out. We also stop along the way to visit the vegetation in Bromo. We paid a visit to our driver house as well. Had our lunch in one of the village & "duduk bersila" there. Lunch in one of the village on the way to Madakaripura Waterfalls

Madakaripura waterfalls is a sacred visiting area comprising lines of waterfalls that reach a height of 200 metres (660 ft). This waterfall has a history related to Prime Minister Gajah Mada (1290–ca. 1364), who struggled to unify the whole territory of Indonesia under the control of the Majapahit Empire. He said, "the last residence for Gajah Mada". This spectacular waterfall lies hidden at the end of a deep valley in the foothills of the Tengger range. The water has cascades from the dense forest above. The primary attraction is its natural environment that is encircled by seven waterfalls and caves
